This is a basic guide to help with the question of "Which threaded length should I choose?"  The vast majority of noise suppressor (silencer) manufacturers use the 1/2"x28 thread size and pitch in .22 cal suppressors but can use different threaded lengths. At least the 1/2x28 thread being standard helps a lot with having stock of each threaded barrel from our end but now and then we come up short of a particular length of threads so we try to keep unthreaded barrels in reserve for these instances and also if a customer needs a different thread like 10mmx1.0, 1/2"x20, 3/8"x24 etc, etc.   Following is a list of Suppressor brands with the recommended threaded length, we say recommended but these specs should be followed, screwing a suppressor with .400" thread depth onto a barrel with .635" length of threads can cause the barrel muzzle to bottom out on the first baffle causing damage not only to that baffle but the suppressor most likely will not align properly too so when fired more baffles get damaged with the dreaded "baffle strike". A damaged baffle can't be bought and ordered over the phone as it is a registered part so usually you will have to return your suppressor to the manufacturer for repair, not as cheap as you might think.  A suppressor should tighten down properly onto the barrel shoulder,(no spacers or washers), which is essential to proper alignment and trouble free use. More brands and models will be added as time allows, if your suppressor is not listed here yet send us a email and we'll get the specs for you. We also recommend you consult your suppressor manufacturer as they will know best about their products. For you guys with your approved BATFE form to build your own  Noise Suppressor we suggest taking into account how many firearms can you use the suppressor on. A 22cal silencer if built strong enough can be used from 22LR, 223 rem, 22-250 etc. The thread length we would recommend is the .635" for this application so you can silence your 10/22, Charger, P22, Buckmark, AR15, Sig556, and your M700 22-250(just to name a few) all with one can. Thread cleaning from carbon build up on the threads in the can from the shorter pistol barrel thread lengths is a higher maitenence requirement but is easy and worth it since you don't need several silencers with the registration expense and red tape.
